Hey friends!
Well, here I am starting over again. Sort of.
Many, many, many years ago I wrote a book (what is now Bad Ex-Boyfriend) and it didn’t really go anywhere. I self-published it for a hot second, then deleted it, then started to send it out in a newsletter for my other pen name, then stopped. I was just never entirely sure what I wanted to do with this book, but I knew I didn’t want to give it up.
So it’s sat on my computer for years, and sometimes I’d take it out, look it over, and then decide against self-publishing. See, the thing is, I LOVE romantic suspense, but it seems like it’s fallen out of favor since the 2000s when I cut my teeth on it as a reader. Divine Evil? Genius twist. Carnal Innocence? Never saw it coming. Julie Garwood’s Sizzle? Perfect bodyguard situation. Plus, self-publishing is a whole different game than trad pub. I naturally suck at social media and trends, so advertising myself as an indie writer just never seemed feasible.
But this year I took it out, changed the tense, bought a cover, and said, I’m DOING THIS. But. . . I’m doing it under a brand-new pen name, so that if I fail, I can fail in peace.
I’ve decided to spend a little money on ads for once, and I’m getting ready to launch the second book in November as part of a rapid-release strategy. (Oooh, look at me talking like I know what I’m doing.)
I’m also writing a little bit on AO3 and you’ll NEVER guess what fandom I’m in because it’s super obscure, but I’m having fun. Listen, publishing is tough ya’ll, especially with the advent of this AI bullshit. It’s nice to be able to create for the sake of creating when the business side of publishing and society’s nonsense get me down.
Anyway, if you’re here, you’re either someone who read my book or you’re a scammer. If you’re a reader, thank you!! I hope you enjoyed! If you’re a scammer, no thank you, I’m not interested in your book club.
You can read on Kindle Unlimited <3
